Carbonate worked with Chowbotics from its public debut in 2017 to its acquisition by DoorDash in 2021. When Dr. Deepak Sekar’s startup robotics company received $5 million of Series A funding, he needed a creative communications firm that could help him position his company at the intersection of technology and food. Sally the Salad Robot was almost ready for its introduction to the world, but the company’s identity had not yet been fully defined. The challenge? Overcome perceptions about freshness, and highlight Sally’s ability to create over 1,000 different salad options, on demand and with precise calorie counts.

We renamed the company, developed the initial logos and verbal identity for both Chowbotics and Sally, and defined the strategy to help them stand out in an emerging category. Managing brand communications over five years, we secured a steady stream of earned media in nearly every major national news outlet.
We also managed award applications resulting in numerous accolades including: Most Innovative Companies and World Changing Ideas by Fast Company, Nation’s Restaurant News The Power List, The National Restaurant Association’s Kitchen Innovation Awards, BIG Innovation Awards, Edison Awards, and Best in Biz Awards.
In 2021, Chowbotics was acquired by DoorDash.
