The Strand House is an iconic Manhattan Beach oceanfront restaurant known for its chef-driven coastal California cuisine and unparalleled views of the Pacific. Perched above the shoreline with a lively cocktail lounge—Strand Bar—tucked just below, the restaurant offers two distinct yet complementary experiences: refined, elevated dining upstairs and a high-energy, modern beach-house vibe downstairs.

The existing website and verbal identity didn’t fully capture this duality, the unique blend of sophistication, warmth, and Southern California vibrancy that defines The Strand House. The team needed a refreshed digital presence that communicated the restaurant’s chef-driven coastal point of view, and clearly differentiated the dining room and the lounge—while preserving the effortless luxury the space is known for.

Carbonate oversaw the design and development of a new BentoBox website and refined the brand’s verbal identity to elevate the storytelling, modernize the visual system, and clarify the full Strand House experience. An updated color palette and type system brought more cohesion and sophistication, balancing elevated fine dining with the relaxed, sun-drenched energy of Manhattan Beach.

The new website design emphasizes simplicity, clarity, and atmosphere—allowing the space, cuisine, and views to take center stage. An updated navigation structure clearly distinguishes between the main-floor dining room and the Strand Bar below, giving each experience a defined digital home.

The result is a digital presence that captures what makes The Strand House iconic: five-star service with a casual California spirit, two distinct spaces under one roof, and a front-row seat to the South Bay’s most spectacular sunsets.
